WELCOME TO MY WORLD OF COLOUR

I am Gilly Brigden (also known as Beans) a self-taught Abstract Artist working mainly in acrylics, all of which are created at my studio in Midhurst.

My journey to discovering the world of art was by a slightly circuitous route which began with sailing across the Atlantic employed as delivery crew/stewardess! Twelve thousand miles later and I sailed in another direction and became an Apprentice Fine Art Restorer in the South of France. Helping in the restoration of those Old Masters revealed to me an appreciation of art and colour. Latterly, an exhibition at Harrods of my interpretations of some of The Impressionists, and equally colourful painted furniture, led me on the route to discovering my own style, which is purely organic, intuitive and spontaneous.

Ultimately, i just love creating colourful, uplifting paintings that hopefully bring joy and pleasure to those that view them.
